Kelloggs recall the
honey smack cereals due to several salmonella cases
On 14 June 2018 the leading
cereal manufacturer – Kellogg’s, well known for producing great breakfast
choices has launched a public declaration for the honey smack recall. The honey
smack cereals have been one of the popularly consumed cereals of Kellogg’s.
They were launched in the market in the year 1953, and have been a part of the
kellogg’s product range ever since.
What are the reasons behind the Kelloggs
recall?
In 31 states of the United States
of America, around 73 cases of Kelloggs food poisoning were reported. Due to
the seriousness of the illness, 24 patients were hospitalized. Although no
deaths have been reported, the leading manufacturer has announced the honey
smack recall to prevent any further cases. The formal Kelloggs recall was
announced by the cereal manufacturer after CDC declared the cereal responsible
for the illnesses. According to the CDC reports, the honey smack cereals have
caused the outbreak of salmonella in the people who consumed it.
All the batches of honey smack
cereals produced with the use by date between 14 June 2018 and 14 June 2019
have been recalled. In addition to that, all the 15.3 ounces honey smack boxes
with the U.P.C code 3800039103 are specifically recalled.
What are the symptoms of Kelloggs
food poisoning?
All honey smack consumers need to be vigilant
for any symptoms that might indicate the outbreak of salmonella. The common
symptoms of a person struck by salmonella include the following:
Diarrhea
Abdominal cramps and ache
Vomiting
Nausea
Fever
If you are someone who has
purchased a honey smack cereal box with the use by date in the above-mentioned
time period, then stop using it and throw it right away even if it has not
caused any harm. The retailers should stop the sale of any honey smack boxes
and return them to the manufacturer.
